CHECK IN

When receiving a vehicle from a customer, it usually arrives one of three ways. The customer stops by unannounced, the vehicle has broken down and is towed in, or the customer has made an appointment. Once the vehicle has been checked in, regardless of the circumstance, it is then assigned to a technician.

INSPECTION

A visual examination of a vehicle's exterior, interior, engine, and undercarriage starts in motion as the inspector checks for any signs of damage or wear and tear and evaluates the overall condition of the vehicle. The inspection may also include a test drive to check the performance and handling of the vehicle.

ESTIMATE

The assessment of the damage to a vehicle determines the cost of repairs. A report is now created from the analysis taken from the prior inspection that lists the necessary repairs, parts, and labor costs. The make, model, and year of the vehicle is factored in to ensure an accurate estimate. The report is then reviewed by the insurance company and a settlement amount is determined.

AUTHORIZATION

It involves obtaining approval from the insurance company for the repairs to be made on a damaged vehicle. The process typically begins with the submission of an estimate by the auto estimator to the insurance company. The insurance company reviews the estimate and, if it is approved, issues an authorization for the repairs to be made. The authorization specifies the extent of the repairs that are approved and the amount of money that the insurance company will cover.

IN PROGRESS

The vehicle is currently undergoing repairs. The repairs are ongoing and have not yet been completed. During this stage, the repair technicians will be working on the vehicle, replacing parts, fixing damage, and performing any other necessary repairs. The vehicle will not be considered "completed" until all repairs have been finished and it is returned to the customer.

FINALIZE

The finalization process includes a thorough inspection of the repairs to ensure they have been properly completed and to confirm that the vehicle is in good working order. Any necessary touch-ups or final adjustments may be made at this stage. Once all repairs have been finalized, the vehicle is usually cleaned and prepared for delivery to the customer.

FOLLOW UP

The process of checking in with the customer after the repair work has been completed to ensure their satisfaction and to address any outstanding concerns. This process can involve contacting the customer to schedule a follow-up appointment, conducting a final inspection of the repairs, and addressing any warranty or maintenance issues.
